Week 2

Hey girlfriends - hoow was your week! I appreciated having this challenge and enjoyed going to my cardio station class. It has been so long since I worked out, I did not know what a BOSU ball is. I also learnt they can be dangerious if placed too close to a fire extenguisher on the wall, the gentleman in front of me lost his balance and smashed his forhead against it. (Note to self) The blood gashing out, finished the class early. Still managed to get my 45 in! I could feel my abs and butt muscles all week! So the rest of the week was simple walking until the pain diminished, which took about 6 days!

What is your next girlfriend challenge. Humm, my interviews discovered one girlfriend invitation to take dance lessons (still shy on committment unfortunately) then a 6:30 am boot class invitation (hmm, hubby leaves too early) Thurs. night Yoga and the Fred Gringle Stairs. I could do that. My goal is to keep moving and to step up to 2 45 min. work outs this week. What is your inspiration this week?

Write down one thing - or 10! Did you meet the challenge or come up with your own challege that others may be interested in meeting?

The Girlfriend Challenge

Here we are girlfriends, the start of a new decade - 2010! Happy New Years! If you find yourself drawn to this blog, it is possibly because you may feel the same way, "I can't imagine life with out girlfriends to help keep me sane, motivated and happy!!" So instead of resoluations this year, which feel like empty promises, I thought this could be a year of challenges, either small, fun and gentle or big, excitting and scary, however life takes us or how we choose to respond - "it's all good!"

In the past 40 years of my life, I have utilized anger and fear to motivate me....now that midlife has kindly brought me to a place of being no longer angry (well maybe a little but too burnt out to care!) and no longer anxious (dito), I know I must find my motivation through PASSION now. I want to have more laugh lines than worry lines for the next 40 years! I ask myself how do I fuel those bits of dusty flames of passion?? The answer for me is time alone and connecting to my girlfriends! Both of which I don't seem to get enough of.

As a busy, giving, working mother, on the fringe of forgetting how to answer one of the most important, but often overlooked question for ourselves, "What brings me happiness?" I am reaching out to fellow X chromozones to share in the Girlfriend Challenge - So we can use this for whatever challenge we dare to admit outloud. When I asked my dearest friend, "what gives you happiness"? She said, "if I had some time alone I may be able to figure that out?" So let's figure this out and make it happen!

So this blog was created as a forum for self expression, laughter, tears and to 'Peer Coach' and challenge one another. I am planning that this blog help me be accountable to myself and invite others who wish for the same. If this does not interest or it feels like another 'to do list' then you can blog off - (not intended to be disrespectful!) If this does interest you, please share your challenges, then we can share in each others friendship to help bring out our juicy, alive, growing selves! Love Maria
